Insurance
All international students must arrange health insurance prior to their arrival in the Slovak Republic. Students from EU/EEA countries who are insured need to bring with them their European Health Insurance Card. This card should be obtained from an insurance company in your home country. If students have arranged for insurance only in their home country, they will have to pay for any medical treatment in Slovakia immediately on the spot. Costs will be reimbursed by your insurance company upon returning home. Students can receive health services in the following areas: primary health care, specialist out-patient care, hospital treatment, dental treatment, rescue services, and ambulance transport. A European Health Insurance Card cannot be used for private sector health care providers.
Students from NON-EU countries have to register for Slovak health insurance. A “Confirmation of Health Insurance” (translated into the Slovak language) is also required by the Foreign Police Department. It costs about 150.00 €.
